Corey Wolff,
Founder, CEO, Managing Partner
As Energy Systems and Installation Inc.'s founder and CEO, Corey is responsible for overseeing all aspects of ESI's day to day operations. ESI has quickly grown from (4) core employees to over (20) professionals that focus on the development and installation of commercial solar systems and related technologies. ESI now operates in (5) states and is in the process of developing over 15 Megawatts of Solar in various locations.
Corey has owned or operated his own business for the last twelve years, and has travelled the world with some of his previous companies. A 1994 graduate of Cornell, Corey turned his focus to Green Energy in 2007. In early 2008, Corey founded Energy Systems and Installation and personally funded the company for the first nine months, until the business model attracted a group of regional, high profile investors. ESI now offers the following services; Solar PV, Solar Thermal, EV charging Stations, and electricity procurement. To date over 35 projects have been commissioned, with another 14 under construction.
Michael Schmerl
Project Manager, Solar Instructor, Partner
With 30 years combined experience as a master electrician and electrical contractor, Mike has been around “all things
solar” for years. In 2007, Mike received his NABCEP Certification as an approved solar photovoltaic (electric) installer
and instructor.
Mike works closely with our clients to ensure the details of a project are designed to meet or exceed their specifications.
He insists on using the latest solar design tools to maximize project efficiencies to each client engagement. This results
in favorable project quotes and minimal space requirements for your solar needs. Few professionals in our industry are able
to bring this level of experience and education to your project.
In addition, Mike is a requested lecturer and instructor at various academic institutions between Pennsylvania and his home
state of Michigan. Mike is currently teaching entry and advanced level solar courses at Northwestern Michigan College in
Traverse City, MI and for Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) at our corporate offices in Jonestown, PA. Mike
additionally travels the country providing solar photovoltaic (PV) training on behalf of Hampden Engineering Corporation’s
Solar PV Division.
Mike participates in the following professional associations: American Solar Energy Society, Great Lakes Renewable Energy
Association, North American Board of Certified Energy Professionals, Business Network International, and the North American
Board of Certified Energy Practitioners. Additionally, he serves on the Project Advisory Committee for Harrisburg Community
College’s Green Curricula Program.
Mike’s most significant achievements include being married for 27 years to his wife Terri and raising their two children,
Tracy and Ben. Terri provides the support and inspiration for Mike to succeed and both children are successful in their
chosen careers. Tracy is an insurance executive in the specialty market of collector cars and Ben is a proud member of the
United States Coast Guard.
David Heilman,
Chief Operations Coordinator, Partner
When a project moves from the design phase to the construction phase, Dave is the member of ESI that you will see on location
each day. Before he reaches your site, Dave inspects all equipment to guarantee it meets the necessary specifications. Once on
site, Dave manages each project to ensure it’s followed to the letter of the design requirements. He directs our crews and has
gained great respect throughout the industry for his meticulous and detail-oriented nature. “Good enough” is a phrase that
doesn’t exist in Dave’s vocabulary.
Dave is a graduate of the PennTech School of Landscape Technology in Williamsport, PA. Dave also came to us with a strong
background in general construction and property management. He founded D. Heilman Enterprises, a property management firm that
is still operating through new ownership and manages over 64 properties throughout the Mid-Atlantic.
Dave has been married to his wife Tammy for seven years. He refers to her as his backbone and strongest supporter. He is
also an extreme motorcycle enthusiast and has acquired an impressive collection over the years. He admits that bikes are his
only real vice. In addition, Dave volunteers with his wife for the American Cancer Society and participates with his family on
their Relay for Life team throughout the year.
Tim Wolff,
Director of Government Affairs
Tim is our Director of Government Affairs and is in his second year with ESI. He primarily handles the grant, rebate, tax
credit, and Renewable Energy Credit (REC) responsibilities as they relate to our business. His secondary responsibilities
include tracking all relevant legislative proposals and heading up our outreach efforts to public officials. Prior to joining
us, Tim worked as a Field Representative in the Pittsburgh office of United States Senator Bob Casey and before that as a Staff
Assistant in his Washington office providing administrative support and assisting with energy and environment issues. He received
his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in 2006.
Tim is currently a resident of Hershey, PA. In his spare time, Tim is an avid fan of traveling, volunteering for political
and community causes, playing basketball, and spending time with his niece Ciera. He also enjoys the many live music acts which
visit Hershey.
Mike Drei,
Director of Sales and Marketing
Mike joined ESI in the summer of 2010 as our Director of Sales and Marketing. He has been charged with marketing ESI's unique value proposition and building a client-oriented sales team. Prior to joining us, Mike was fortunate to have a significant career in media and marketing – including positions in publishing, online media, and video production.
Most recently before his commitment to ESI, he took a break from the corporate world and addressed his love for dogs by partnering with his wife to develop and launch a frozen organic dog treat company known as Frozen Woofys. These treats can be found throughout hundreds of retailers throughout the Mid-Atlantic United States.
Mike graduated from York College and Towson State University. He currently lives in New Cumberland, PA with his wife Linda and their three border collies. When not thinking solar, Mike enjoys off road motorcycles, disc dog sports, family camaraderie, and guitar.
Jeff Bessom
Director of Sales - MA
Jeff is a sales and business development professional with experience in the commercial, legal, educational, and government sectors leading successful sales initiatives in high-tech and service firms. Developed
and implement worldwide sales programs, managing sales teams and budgets for optimum return on investment (ROI).
Over his 20 years of experience Jeff has successfully worked with high-level executives in Fortune 1000 companies.
In addition to initiated strategic partnerships with other high-tech firms on projects and integrations to ensure sales revenue.
Jeff has established a dedicated work ethic with various groups and departments in organizations; and demonstrated ability for handling all aspects of client relationships, including contract negotiations.
Romeeka Gayhart,
Construction Office Manager / Project Designer

Meeka assists the construction team in the early part of a project's planning. She is responsible for drawing 3D project renderings. These renderings are used to help clients visualize the impact of ESI's work in the field and to assist the installation team. Additionally, she is responsible for procuring construction permitting and facilitating interconnection with the relative utility company.
Meeka is a graduate from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA. During her time there, she had the good fortune to study in Mexico, Spain, and Germany. Previous to working at ESI, she served for a year in the AmeriCorps.
In her spare time, Meeka works as a relief houseparent for the Lebanon County group homes and writes and performs music. She enjoys the great outdoors of central Pennsylvania while hiking, kayaking, and biking.
Julie Smith
General Office Manager
Julie works out of ESI headquarters in Jonestown and serves as the frontline person in client relations. In addition, she provides Human Resource and Accounting backup for ESI's corporate offices. Her fifteen years of experience in customer service and project management ensure our clients receive the best of care.
Julie received her bachelor's in Theatre and English from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA and an MBA from the State University of New York at Binghamton. She resides in Jonestown with her husband and enjoys cooking for him and the ESI staff.
Josh Palladino,
Lead Electrician / Project Manager
Josh assists in the electrical design and overall management of ESI's projects. He completed a five year apprenticeship program to become a registered Journeyman in the state. He then continued his education to become an IEC Master Electrician and has also completed his NABCEP certification.
In his spare time Josh enjoys fly fishing, scuba diving, playing sports, and spending time with his family.
John Commins
Project Developer - PPA Division
John Commins is ESI’s Project Developer responsible for managing and developing ESI’s power purchase agreement projects. John joined ESI in 2008 as a project manager where he managed a number of the ESIs solar PV construction projects. With the need to develop and manage more of ESI’s PPA projects, John transitioned to the development side of ESI. Today, John is actively developing over 12 MW of projects in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Prior to joining ESI, John was and still is a member of the Air National Guard (ANG) where he has served a number of operational tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as a combat A-10 pilot. Also during his time as an ANG member and as a military technician, John spearheaded the business development plan to convert Willow Grove Air Reserve Station and it’s over 100 acres in Philadelphia, PA to an Air National Guard base and combined civilian/federal business industrial center. John was instrumental in what is now a fully transitioned ANG base with over 50 federal, state, non-profit and private entities. Prior to joining the ANG, John was an Active Duty A-10 pilot in the Air Force serving over 10 years in the Air Force before transitioning to the ANG. John graduated with a Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina in 1994 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the United States Air Force Academy in 1994.
Bob Bering
Project Developer

Bob is a Project Developer who excels at working with property owners throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. He provides the initial contact support with perspective clients by performing site evaluations and takes pride in meeting client's needs and expectations throughout the entire process. His ability to optimize the financial advantages of a solar project stems from his previous position as a commercial real estate professional.
Bob earned his BS in Finance from Penn State University and is actively involved with the Penn State Alumni Association. Bob resides in Palmyra with his wife Nicole and the first addition to their family, Bella, their Goldendoodle puppy.
Russ Maymon
Solar Sales Consultant
Russ has over 25 years of financial analysis, sales and business development experience. He has held sales and management positions within the plastics, chemicals and energy industries. Most recently Russ was the Business Development Manager for a renewable energy start up that focused on the biomass-to-energy sector. The business utilized several cutting edge technologies such as plasma-gasification, fuel cells and other developing CHP processes. Russ coordinated the public relations, permitting and project development while also playing a lead role in investor relations and government advocacy.
Russ brings the combination of sales expertise and renewable energy experiences to ESI in developing their solar sales strategy in New England.
Russ has a BS in Finance from Bryant University and is a native New Englander. Residing in Rhode Island he enjoys golf and skiing but most of all participating in the busy lives of three children.
Patrick Fabian
Solar Sales Consultant

Patrick graduated from New England College in Henniker, NH in 2009 with a business marketing degree. After graduation he followed my dream of moving out west. Being an ambitious snowboarder, Patrick settled in Park City, UT, and fell in love with the town and the people. That was also where his passion for solar electric and solar thermal began.
He began as an installer, and moved up quickly until he was a crew manager. He then moved into the sales force. Patrick comments "that what makes this job so enjoyable for me is the ability to teach customers about a subject that I am so passionate about, while also providing them with a service that is good for them and good for the planet."
8 Ball
Director of ESI's Solar Canine Division
With almost 5 years in the field (that's 45 in people years) 8 Ball technically qualifies as our most experienced solar expert. He is our chief contract negotiator since we have yet to find anyone who could say no to him and keeps all at ESI busy with consistent fuzzy belly rubs.
